Caroline Isabel Merz is a distinguished vocal artist, one of the most accomplished and versatile sopranos of her generation. Gifted with extraordinary musicality, commanding stage presence, and a voice of remarkable color and expressiveness, she has graced the stages of Europe’s leading opera houses – including Vienna, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Salzburg, and many others – captivating both audiences and critics alike.

Her operatic repertoire is a rich tapestry of iconic female roles, ranging from lyrical to dramatic, including performances as Pamina, Contessa, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, Konstanze, Queen of the Night, First Lady, Violetta, Mimi, Lucia, Leonora from Il Trovatore, Frau Fluth, Micaëla, Norina, Adina, Rosina, Rosalinde, Regan, Manon, and numerous roles in contemporary opera.

Equally acclaimed in the concert and recital repertoire, Caroline Isabel Merz is known for her profound interpretations of songs and arias by Mozart, Strauss, Schubert, Schumann, Wolf, Mahler, Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky, Copland, Barber, Rossini, Verdi, and Brahms. She has also performed as a soloist in all of the great oratorios and masses by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and others – earning praise for her emotional depth, technical brilliance, and interpretative finesse.

Her musical journey began with piano studies under Professor Roderburg at the prestigious Clara Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf. She later pursued vocal studies at the renowned Mozarteum University in Salzburg – one of Europe’s foremost conservatories – where she performed nearly all of the major Mozart roles, as well as operetta and the German repertoire.

For over a decade, Caroline Isabel Merz has passionately dedicated herself to the vocal training of young singers. As a graduate of a six-year acting program led by Wolfgang Arps at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, she places great emphasis on holistic education – combining vocal technique, musical insight, impeccable diction, acting skills, and a deep understanding of the emotional and dramatic content of arias and songs.
