Preamble
The MIKULSKIART OPERA ACADEMY are master classes for singers that offer individual participants and existing vocal ensembles the opportunity to intensively prepare concert recitals, competitions, auditions, exams, or simply prepare any program.
Professional singers, students, students of music schools, vocal ensembles as well as singing teachers have the opportunity to observe, work together and exchange experiences with the most outstanding teachers of vocal art. Individual didactic, musical and methodological assistance is the basis for their further development at the technical, methodological, musical and artistic-interpretation level.
On January 21-26, 2024, the MikulskiART Foundation invites you to the Terminal Kultury Gocław in Warsaw for a vocal master class with ones of the greatest interpreters of Mozart’s music Prof. Caroline Isabel Merz und Prof. Adam Zdunikowski.

CAROLINE ISABEL MERZ – Soprano
Caroline Isabel Merz as a soloist cooperated with the world’s most outstanding producers, conductors and stage partners. Her roles include: Pamina, Contessa, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, Konstanze, Queen of the Night, First Lady, Violetta, Mimi, Lucia, Trovatore Leonore, Frau Fluth, Michaela, Norina, Adina, Rosina, Rosalinde, Reagan, Manon, and a lot of contemporary music. In addition, her work includes a large repertoire of arias and songs – particularly: Strauss, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Wolf, Mahler, Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky, Copeland, Barber, Rossini, Verdi and Brahms.
For a decade, Caroline Merz has been involved in teaching – thanks to her knowledge and experience, she is a valued lecturer at countless vocal masterclasses in Europe, the USA, Japan and China.
PROF. ADAM ZDUNIKOWSKI – Tenor
(Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw)
Adam Zdunikowski is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding Polish tenors and masters of the opera stage. Since 1990 soloist at the Teatr Wielki Polish National Opera. Winner of Polish and international singing competitions. During his 30-year artistic career he has performed on all opera and philharmonic stages in Poland and many around the world. His repertoire includes around 70 opera works as well as many oratorio and cantata parts.
In almost 2,000 performances he had the honor of working with the best Polish singers, the most renowned conductors and the best Polish directors. One of the artist’s extraordinary achievements is the performance of all of Krzysztof Penderecki’s oratorio works under the direction of the composer. Lecturer at the University of Music since 2014. F. Nowowiejski in Bydgoszcz and the branch of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Białystok. Chairman and member of the jury of national singing competitions as well as initiator and director of the “Bogdan Paprocki” singing competition in Bydgoszcz. Winner of the first edition of the “Ad Astra” Prize of the Minister of Culture and Arts. In 2011 he received the silver medal for services to culture “Gloria Artis” from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the badge “Honoris Gratia” from the President of the City of Kraków.
MIKULSKIART OPERA ACADEMY – for whom?
All singers are invited - students of Music Academies, students of music schools, professionals, singing teachers, vocal ensembles and young singers. All those who want to prepare for competitions and concerts, auditions for opera theaters and artistic agencies, entrance exams for music universities or simply want to work on the repertoire of their choice and explore vocal knowledge.
In the program of the course, each of the active participants will have daily individual and group classes divided into thematic blocks:
vocal technique (voice emission), breath control, posture, pronunciation exercises, articulation;
understanding the role: choosing the right vocal technique for the created character, working on the musical power of expression, promoting musical personality, shaping independent interpretation, coping with stress and stage anxiety, e.g. through mental training and acting in front of course participants and the audience, both during workshops and participation in course concerts with the participation of the audience;
(for teachers and pedagogues of singing) – Methodology and didactics of teaching singing.
