Guo Binglong

Guo Binglong is a French horn player of the young generation, distinguished by his refined musical sensitivity, solid technical foundation, and wide international experience. His artistic path bridges the traditions of Chinese musical education with the European orchestral and chamber heritage, shaping a versatile and expressive performer.

He began his formal studies at the Music College of Soochow University, where he was admitted as the provincial top scorer in his major. As an undergraduate, he studied under Professor Wei Zhengqi—conductor and scholar educated at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris—and Ms. Helene Lin. During this period, he quickly emerged as a leading orchestral musician, serving as principal horn of both the symphony and wind orchestras.

In 2020, Guo continued his education in France at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rueil-Malmaison, where he pursued the Diplôme d’Études Musicales (D.E.M.) under Stéphane Bridoux, a musician associated with the Philharmonie de Paris. His French studies deepened his stylistic awareness, tone culture, and understanding of the European orchestral tradition. Since 2024, he has further refined his artistic profile as a master’s student at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, studying under Dr. hab. Prof. Dariusz Mikulski.

Guo Binglong’s performance career includes extensive orchestral activity in China and abroad. As an orchestral horn player, he has appeared with ensembles such as the Soochow University Symphony Orchestra and the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, performing in major theaters throughout Jiangsu, Shanghai, Chengdu, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Gansu, as well as in Nagasaki and Osaka in Japan. He has collaborated with leading conductors, composers, instrumentalists, and vocal artists, spanning the worlds of classical music and popular performance.

His international engagements have taken him to concert halls, churches, and historic venues across France and the Netherlands, including Théâtre André Malraux, Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul, and Napoleon’s private castle. He also participated as an intern musician in the summer season of the Paris-based orchestra Les Frivolités Parisiennes, gaining valuable experience in professional orchestral production.

Guo Binglong is also an award-winning musician. In 2020, he received First Prize at the “Grand Prize Virtuosos” International Music Competition in Germany, and in 2024 he was awarded Third Prize in the professional category of the “Mozart Music Competition” International Music Competition in Poland.

With his international education, broad performance experience, and growing artistic maturity, Guo Binglong represents a compelling voice of the new generation of French horn players, combining technical excellence with musical depth and stylistic versatility.
