Michał Lisiewicz

Born in Łódź in 1974, he graduated with distinction from the violin class of Prof. Zenon Płoszaj at the Academy of Music in Łódź, and continued his studies with John Holloway, long-time concertmaster of Roger Norrington’s London Classical Players. In 2000, as a member of Krystian Zimerman’s Polish Festival Orchestra, he performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls – including Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington, Royal Festival Hall in London, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Tonhalle in Zurich, and the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.

He was the leader of the Academy String Quartet in Łódź, a member of the Witold Lutosławski String Quartet, and the founder and long-time leader of the Warsaw String Quartet. As concertmaster, he collaborated with numerous ensembles, including Polish Camerata, various opera and chamber orchestras in Poland, and the Koszalin Philharmonic, where he won the concertmaster competition. From 2006 to 2018, he served as concertmaster of the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

As a soloist, he has performed with leading Polish orchestras, including Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the Łódź Philharmonic. He appeared in several hundred performances of Fiddler on the Roof, taking the title role on the stages of Łódź, Słupsk, and Warsaw. He is the winner of many prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at the Krzysztof Penderecki International Chamber Music Competition in Kraków and the Pomeranian Artistic Award for the best debut of the year.

He has taken part in numerous festivals in Poland and abroad, recording for renowned labels and broadcasters such as Sony Music, DUX, TVP, TVN, Polsat, and Polish Radio.

Beyond music, he is passionate about sports: an ultramarathon runner and ultratriathlete, he won 3rd place in the extreme Poland Extreme Triathlon (792 km from Jastarnia to Zakopane). He is also interested in literature and chess.
